据近日中东媒体报道，沙特似乎通过此次防务展加强了购买中国052D级驱逐舰的决心。据报道，沙特阿拉伯军方已经在与中国进行谈判，未来可能会购买多达12艘此类船只。
沙特阿拉伯也是中国武器的传统客户，一旦装备052驱逐舰，沙特海军的区域防空能力和海上作战能力将会大大增强。
