Achievement/accomplishment
翻译成中文的时候，这两个词都有“成绩；成就”的意思。（这也就是我常说不要用中文意思去记英文单词，你必须要学会用英文来解释英文，用同义词或近义词来解释英文，或是把单词放到句子里来理解它们的意思。）
但实际上，这两个词的含义上有很大不同。如果一个人“成就”了个人目标，这个是其个人的achievement，如It was a remarkable achievement for such a young player；如果他/她成就的这个目标惠及他人和社会，那么这叫accomplishment, 如The reduction of inflation was a remarkable accomplishment.
个人的成就achievement往往是相对的，在一个环境中可能是显著的，而在另一个环境中也许就不像那么回事儿了。而accomplishment 则持久而普遍。
把这两个词放一起，我们说, People are encouraged to turn their individual achievement to collective accomplishment.
