在11月22日晚，沙特2:1逆转阿根廷的比赛中，沙特后卫沙赫拉尼与自家门将相撞后重伤离场。据阿拉伯媒体《Gulf Today》报道，经检查沙赫拉尼的下颚和左脸骨折，由于有内出血需要快速接受手术。沙特王储本·萨勒曼指示可以用私人飞机将沙赫拉尼转移到德国进行治疗。
