勒子，古老读音为lēizi，源于初始并非玉石玛瑙，结绳后的绳子于生产劳动中的应用附件，将兽皮包卷绳上两端用细绳系紧，成为提握功能，后发展为更加耐用的石玉材料，直至成为饰品等等。也称“蜡子”，文记主用“勒”字底下加个“玉”字旁，即“勒玉”，有圆柱形、扁圆柱形、束腰形、橄榄形等等，是挂于胸前或腰间的玉饰，可单独挂，也可与其他玉饰组合挂。
