Shanghai Municipal Government issued late last month a new action plan to build future industrial clusters that cover new technologies include non-invasive brain-computer interface technology and quantum computing, JW Insights reported.
The action plan covers five industrial clusters in the future: health, intelligence, energy, space, and materials. It says that by 2030, a group of innovative companies and leading talents with world influence in those fields will emerge in Shanghai with a total industrial output value of RMB500 billion ($69.78 billion).
The intelligence industry cluster will focus on intelligent computing, extended reality (XR), quantum computing and 6G.
The material industry cluster will aim at the high-end membrane and non-silicon-based core materials like SiC and GaN technologies.
The energy industry cluster will develop new energy storage.
The health industry cluster will work on brain-computer interface and brain-like chip technology.
Apart from Pudong District, these industry clusters will be deployed in six other districts of Shanghai, according to the plan.
