沙特阿拉伯正在打造一座“线形城市”，这座新城长170公里，但宽度仅为200米。
34平方公里的区域内可容纳900万居民。按照规划，城内居民能在不到5分钟的步行路程内，使用到各种设施。
新城将完全使用可再生能源，没有公路也没有汽车，但会有高效公共交通系统。预计这座城市的建设预算为5000亿美元左右。
