据中国地震台网正式测定，北京时间1月14日17时5分（当地时间1月14日16时5分）在印尼爪哇岛附近海域发生6.6级地震，震源深度20千米，震中位于南纬6.90度，东经105.15度。
震中300公里范围内有13座大中城市，最近为兰加士勿洞（Rangkasbitung），距震中约135公里。震中5公里范围内平均海拔约-1197米。
