潮汕人喜欢吃粥,皆因祖风崇尚勤俭持家,“一升可作三升用,两日堪为六日粮”。另外当地气候炎热潮湿,喝粥可养胃生津。粥是潮汕人的主食,比较粘稠,米粒成形,料也丰富,所以潮汕人是“吃粥”而不是“喝”,水米融洽,柔腻如一。
