近日，东芝开发了可大幅提高数字设备存储设备“机械硬盘（HDD）”存储能力的技术，该技术可以让硬盘容量提升1.7倍，达到30TB。
对此，东芝对利用微波来提高存储能力的技术进行了验证，机械硬盘通过改变磁盘上磁铁的方向来写入数据，通过对磁盘照射微波，可使磁铁轻松发生反转，从而提高存储能力，可以在相同的单位面积内保存更多的数据。
预计，该技术会尽快量产，将应用在数据中心的产品中。
