据塞拉利昂媒体报道，10月8日，塞拉利昂总统比奥正式签署法律废除死刑。
据了解，塞拉利昂议会今年7月23日通过了《废除死刑法》，死刑将被无期徒刑或至少30年监禁等刑罚方式取代。在该法律通过之前，1991年塞拉利昂宪法规定，对严重抢劫、谋杀、叛国和兵变等罪行可使用死刑。（总台记者 何北平）
