China’s Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development released a draft notice on preventing large-scale demolition and reconstruction in urban renewal projects. It urges that local government should put stricter control on tearing down and rebuilding old neighbourhoods, and ensure a stable supply of lands without making huge changes to the original urban scale and design.
8月10日，住建部印发《关于在实施城市更新行动中防止大拆大建问题的通知（征求意见稿）》，《通知》中提出“三严四保”， 严格控制大拆大建，在保持老城格局尺度和城市特色风貌的前提下保证住房租赁市场供需平稳。

The Chinese mainland recorded 83 locally confirmed COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. A total of 25 positive samples have been found in Yangzhou City, east China's Jiangsu Province, during its fifth round of large-scale virus testing since Monday.
全国昨日新增83确诊病例（江苏54例，湖北14例，河南7例，湖南5例，云南2例，北京1例）。扬州市自8月9日起开展的主城区第五轮大规模核酸检测，共采样、检测159.44万人，共检出阳性25例。
China’s medical products regulator has approved local trials for the combined use of the Chinese Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine and a DNA vaccine developed by American biotech company Inovio. The trials are set to begin in autumn and will evaluate the safety and ability of the combined vaccines to induce an immune response in healthy adults and the elderly.
8月9日，北京艾棣维欣生物技术股份公司公布，其新冠DNA候选疫苗已获准与灭活疫苗开展探索序贯免疫策略的临床试验。试验具体分为两项，一项探索在18岁以上健康成年人接种新冠灭活疫苗后加强免疫新冠DNA疫苗的效果，另一项则对健康成年人及老年人接种不同剂量新冠DNA疫苗并进行灭活疫苗加强免疫的研究。

China Telecom, the country’s largest fixed-line operator that is raising up to 54.2 billion yuan in a stock offering in Shanghai after delisting from the New York Stock Exchange, has enlisted supports from 20 strategic investors. Huawei has agreed to buy 220.7 million A-shares while Bilibili pledged to buy 110.3 shares. Other investors include mostly units of large state-backed companies such as State Grid Corporation of China.

On Tuesday night, the world’s second largest smartphone maker Xiaomi revealed its latest flagship handset MIX4, featuring a string of cutting-edge technologies such as an under-display camera. Lei Jun, CEO and founder of the company, said Xiaomi will become the world's biggest smartphone maker in three years. However, Xiaomi’s stock fell 2.19 percent today despite Lei’s speech, closing at HK$26.85.

Lenovo Group, the world's biggest maker of personal computers, posted a better-than-expected jump in first-quarter profit on Wednesday as accelerated digitalization, intelligent transformation and IT upgrades continued to fuel the group's profitability. Profit for the quarter rose 119 percent to $466 million, while revenue rose 27 percent to $16.9 billion.

NetEase Cloud Music, China’s second-largest music streaming platform, announced on Monday that it has postponed its Hong Kong initial public offering that was set to raise about $1 billion after deciding to hang fire until the market environment improves.

Chinese real-estate developer Evergrande Group announced late Tuesday that it was in discussions with several potential independent third-party investors to sell some of the group’s assets, including its stakes in the group’s listed subsidiary Evergrande Vehicle and Evergrande Property. Related stocks rose today, with Evergrande Group up 7.84 percent, Evergrande Vehicle jumped 4.7 percent, and Evergrande Property soared 8.96 percent.

China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) has accepted an application from Standard Chartered Bank, a UK-based banking services company focused on the Asian market, to set up a brokerage on the Chinese mainland, 10 months after the approval materials were submitted. Earlier last week, J.P. Morgan Chase said that the CSRC had approved the New York-based investment bank to become the first overseas firm to fully own a securities brokerage in China.
8月9日，证监会官网显示，日前渣打银行旗下渣打银行（香港）有限公司递交的《证券公司设立审批》已获得证监会受理，拟设立券商目前暂命名为“渣打证券（中国）有限公司”。上周，摩根大通宣布，证监会已对摩根大通国际金融有限公司成为摩根大通证券（中国）唯一股东的事项准予备案，意味着摩根大通证券（中国）将成为中国首家外资全资控股的证券公司。

Chinese stocks closed mixed on Wednesday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.08 percent, at 3532 points. The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.24 percent lower at 15021 points. The Hang Seng Index closed 0.2 percent higher to stand at 26660 points.
周三A股股市涨跌不一，截至收盘，沪指涨0.08%，报收3532点；深成指跌0.24%，报收15021点。港股恒生指数收涨0.2%，报收26660点。
