2月9日，国新办发布《中央国家机关和地方2021年新闻发言人名录》。其中，王建新以中央纪委国家监委宣传部部长身份亮相新闻发言人名单。
王建新此前在新闻领域工作多年，曾任中央纪委国家监委宣传部常务副部长。原任中央纪委国家监委宣传部部长的莫高义已于去年调任中央纪委国家监委驻人民日报社纪检监察组组长、人民日报社编委委员。
