安徽省安庆市第一中学由近代思想家严复倡办，是省示范高中，省高中理科实验班和国家宏志班承办学校。学校前身为1906年（清光绪三十二年）创办的安徽全省师范学堂，先后易名为安徽省立第一师范学校、安徽省立第一中学等，至1956年始定名为安徽省安庆市第一中学。
