在恩施州利川市沙溪乡河滩有一种神奇的石头，
因形似燕子，
当地人称“燕儿石”。
当地村民认为，
燕子是吉祥物，
谁要是能捡到燕儿石，
就会给谁带来好运，
因此，一直以来，
寻找燕儿石的人很多。
据了解，
燕儿石是弓石燕的化石。
弓石燕是距今4亿年前属于泥盆纪的腕足软体动物。
弓石燕的外贝体为横方形，
向左右延伸时，
逐渐收缩上翘开张，
壳面具有粗强的放射状褶线，
像弓箭，也像燕翼，
所以叫弓石燕。
