《孔老二罪恶的一生》是在1974年发表的。有人说作者“萧甘”即是文学家巴金先生的笔名。后又有人问及绘画作者贺友直先生，言“萧甘”为当时上海美术出版社文字编辑甘礼乐先生，“萧甘”即“小甘”，当可信。
以目前的角度看来，这篇小人书是从另一个角度看孔子的生平，也有其意义。
