邓石如的隶书成就建立在深厚的传统功底之上。他曾客居梅家八年，遍临《史晨碑》《华山碑》《张迁碑》《白石神君碑》等数十种汉碑名迹，各临五十本，三年而成。但他并非泥古不化，而是将汉碑的古朴、篆籀的圆转、魏碑的雄强熔于一炉，最终 “法为我用”，形成了自己的“邓派”书风。
