李巧巧表示，在领奖结束后就发现金牌有磨损，回国后因亲友轮番触摸“沾喜气”，金牌的背面边角也已发乌，也有表皮脱落情况。为保护这枚意义重大的奖牌，李巧巧给金牌塑封了一层保护膜，将其像易碎品一样包裹起来。
