天妃宫位于狮子山麓，是明成祖朱棣为酬谢海神妈祖庇佑郑和船队平安航行而下令敕建的皇家庙宇，并亲撰碑文“御制弘仁普济天妃宫之碑”于宫中，天妃宫始建于明永乐五年（1407年），重建后为明代官式建筑风格，与相邻的静海寺、阅江楼共同构成重要的历史文化景观群。
