9月21日，Meta宣布正与海底光缆系统专业公司NEC、住友电气工业合作建设海底光缆Petal。同时，Meta也正与法国电信公司Orange合作，计划让Petal在法国大西洋沿岸登陆。
Meta表示，Petal将连接美国和法国，全长7,000公里（超过4,300英里），并将使当今最先进的跨洋光缆容量翻倍。该公司称其将成为首条以拍比特容量跨洋部署的海底光缆。该光缆预计于2029年投入使用。
