9月10日，惠州市惠城区九届人大常委会第五十九次会议召开，决定任命李刚为惠城区科技工业和信息化局局长。
此番履新前，李刚曾先后出任惠城区桥东街道办事处副主任、惠城区政务服务和数据管理局局长。
