智库 Verdant 周三表示，英国政府与行业领军企业采信了科技行业协会 techUK 广为引用的数据，批准新建一批数据中心。但 Verdant 指出，该数据夸大了数据中心实际能够创造的新增长期固定岗位规模。主张收紧数据中心开发管控的 Verdant 估算，英国现有数据中心直接吸纳就业约 4400 人；而 techUK 的估算数字为 24300 人。对于规划中的在建项目，Verdant 预测到 2035 年将产生约 10400 个长期运营岗位，大约仅为 techUK 预测 40200 个岗位的四分之一。该智库在研读英国 20 个规划中数据中心的规划文件与公开人员数据后测算，按容量加权平均值，每兆瓦仅能创造约 1.2 个运营岗位。
