Alright, the cue card says: describe a place of cultural importance in your country. Hmm… let me think…

I'd like to talk about Wuwei — anciently called Liangzhou — a city where three great plateaus meet, the old northwest capital and a six-dynasty ancient capital. It has a really long history, 嗯……"有文化意义"怎么说更地道来着…… it's a place of great cultural significance, I think that's the phrase. 对，cultural significance。

The city is, um… In English it's called the "Galloping Bronze Horse" or the "flying horse"… Bronze Galloping Horse Treading on a Flying Swallow，太长了我记不住，说 "the flying horse statue" 老外也能懂。

What makes it special is that… This place carries, like, over a thousand years of history. 应该是 bears 或者 holds a thousand years of history.

If you visit today, you can still see the 雷台墓, where the horse was unearthed. The museum there tells the story of, um… 丝绸之路 and the Silk Road trade.

So yeah, that's the place I'd recommend. 收尾——it's not just old buildings, it's where my roots are.

• be of great cultural significance 比 "has cultural meaning" 地道得多。雅思里把 important 升级成 of great significance / value 是加分项。
• bear / hold a thousand years of history："承载"别直译成 carry（容易听成"搬运"）。
• be unearthed / be excavated：出土文物用 unearthed 最自然；excavated 偏"考古发掘"动作本身。
I very like this place（错）。 I like this place very much 或 I'm really fond of this place。

1. a place of cultural significance —— 有文化意义的地方（替换 a culturally important place）
3. I'm really fond of… —— 我很喜欢……（替换 I like… very much，更口语自然）
