当地时间9月3日，美国副总统万斯在白宫新闻发布会接受媒体采访时表示，美国是当前世界上唯一一个阻止伊朗袭击商业航运的国家。“其他国家都做了些什么”，万斯进而将矛头指向欧洲的盟友，称这些国家在公开场合批评美国，而在私下又赞赏美国的做法。
