据新西兰地震机构消息，当地时间9月2日18时13分左右，新西兰米尔福德峡湾东北约40公里处发生5.5级地震，震源深度约6公里。目前暂无人员伤亡和财产损失报告。
另据该机构稍晚时消息，当天18时57分左右，米尔福德峡湾东北约35公里处又发生5.6级地震，震源深度约7公里。（总台记者 刘志敏）
