9月2日，中国地质科学院地质研究所发布讣告，中国共产党优秀党员，中国科学院院士，国际著名地质学家，我国区域地质事业的开拓者和奠基者之一，第八届、第九届全国政协委员，原地质矿产部副总工程师，中国科学院原学部主席团成员、地学部副主任，中国地质科学院原院长，中国地质科学院地质研究所研究员李廷栋先生，因病医治无效，于2026年9月1日12时35分在北京逝世，享年96岁。
