9月1日，俄罗斯外交部发言人扎哈罗娃表示，鉴于日本、美国和澳大利亚计划于9月8日至24日举行联合演习，且演习区域包括俄边境附近地区，俄外交部已于8月31日向日本驻俄大使馆提出交涉，并就此次演习表达了关切。
