9月1日，外交部发言人郭嘉昆主持例行记者会。针对有关新西兰政客的提问，郭嘉昆表示，中方历来坚持不干涉内政原则，从来没有兴趣，也不会以任何方式干涉他国内政。涉及新西兰有关方面的言论，这种说法毫无根据。中方始终秉持“四个充分尊重”的原则，发展同太平洋岛国的关系，没有兴趣也从未干涉他国的内政。
