8月17日，2026年印度羽毛球世锦赛首轮，16号种、中国选手翁泓阳0-2（17-21、14-21）不敌日本选手田中涌士，惨遭一轮游。田中涌士为去年中国香港公开赛的失利完成复仇。下一轮静候德维卡约和比约克勒的胜者。
本次比赛，国羽派出3位选手出战男单比赛。卫冕冠军、头号种子石宇奇，首轮即遇东道主新星阿尤什；8号种子李诗沣，首战哈萨克斯坦选手帕纳林。
