7月23日，包括以色列国家安全部长、极右翼政治人士本-格维尔在内，至少1000名犹太人在以色列警方的护送下进入阿克萨清真寺大院。当天，约旦、阿联酋、印度尼西亚、巴基斯坦、土耳其、沙特阿拉伯、卡塔尔和埃及外交部发表联合声明，强烈谴责以色列近期在阿克萨清真寺采取升级局势的举措。
