7月23日，故宫博物院官网发布《关于2026年7月27日开放的公告》：
为庆祝北京中轴线（Beijing Central Axis）申遗成功两周年，满足广大观众文化需求，故宫博物院将于2026年7月27日（周一）免费开放一天。8：30开馆，16：00停止入馆，17：00闭馆。
The Palace Museum announced on Thursday that it will offer free entry on Monday, July 27, to mark the second anniversary of the Beijing Central Axis' inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The museum will be open from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with last admission at 4:00 pm.
本次参观仅可通过“故宫博物院”微信小程序进行实名预约，7月24日20：00开始预约大门票和钟表馆、珍宝馆门票，约满即止。参观当日，端门、珍宝馆、钟表馆票务窗口不提供服务。
2024年7月27日，在印度新德里召开的联合国教科文组织第46届世界遗产大会通过决议，将“北京中轴线——中国理想都城秩序的杰作”列入《世界遗产名录》。至此，中国世界遗产总数达到59项。
The 46th session of the World Heritage Committee in New Delhi, India, announced on July 27, 2024 that the Beijing Central Axis — "A Building Ensemble Exhibiting the Ideal Order of the Chinese Capital" — has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, becoming China's 59th World Heritage Site.
北京中轴线纵贯北京老城南北，始建于13世纪，形成于16世纪，此后经不断演进发展，形成今天全长7.8公里、世界上最长的城市轴线。其遗产区面积589公顷，缓冲区面积4542公顷，共有钟鼓楼、故宫、天安门等15个遗产构成要素。
