7月21日，位于广东省惠州市的国家重大科技基础设施建设项目——强流重离子加速器装置（HIAF）通过了由中国科学院组织的工艺验收，标志着该装置达到所有工程建设目标，进入试运行阶段。强流重离子加速器装置以“探索原子核存在极限、揭示核天体物理过程、推动核能开发和多学科应用”为三大目标，是研究原子核微观世界的国之重器。（央视新闻）
