5月11日，珠穆朗玛峰南坡大本营附近发生雪崩，滑落的雪流掀起强烈气浪直冲而下。亲历者称，事发时自己正在上厕所，眼见雪流逼近、气浪迎面扑来，急忙躲进厨房帐避险。此次雪崩未造成人员伤亡，目前营地运行正常。
