F1官方确认，在FIA、F1与迈阿密站主办方开展协商并经过讨论后，F1已决定将迈阿密站正赛的发车时间从原来的当地时间16点调整至13点（北京时间5月4日凌晨1点）。
此次时间调整的主要原因是，根据天气预报显示，迈阿密在接近原定比赛发车时间可能出现强降雨和雷暴。
在此前的排位赛中，安东内利摘得杆位，维斯塔潘和勒克莱尔位列二、三。
