A stunning 50-meter lob by a 19-year-old student in Zhejiang province has gone viral, drawing praise from football icon David Beckham.

The scorer, Shang Chenyuzhou, said he acted on instinct after spotting the goalkeeper out of position, turning a split-second decision into a moment of remarkable composure. Some netizens noted that the midfield lob echoed Beckham's famous 1996 strike, adding to the buzz around the goal.

On Monday, Shang joined Weibo and said he hoped to keep improving and one day measure up to his idol, David Beckham.

Beckham later responded: "Welcome to Weibo, nice goal!"

During an April 10 "Wu Yue Cup" match, Shang intercepted the ball near midfield in the 85th minute and, with the goalkeeper off his line, sent a precise long-range lob into the net.

Local media said Shang has balanced academics and football since primary school. His coach noted that he often stays after evening classes to practice set pieces alone, methodically refining his shooting from multiple positions around the penalty area.

In response to the praise, Shang expressed his appreciation and extended an invitation to Beckham to visit Zhejiang and watch the "Wu Yue Cup".
