Gwen

You would like to find what kind of a boy?

Just someone that I could be with. I like committed relationships, but I just wouldn't want to be married, but still like committed though.

Gwen

You wouldn't like to get married? Why? You're from a sweet family.

Yeah, I know. I really don't know why. I think it would scare me—all that responsibility and having to trust someone with all of those responsibilities.

Gwen

So when did you start having this kind of idea？

I've always felt like this. Even when I was a young girl, I've never really... Everyone would tell me I would change my mind and I just never have.

Gwen

Do you want to have kids in the future?

No, I don't.

Gwen

Do you think it's easier to find this kind of a guy?

No. The older I get, I realize that people do want that and it is harder to find people who would be ‘okay, not getting married or not having kids’. But I don't know. It's just something that I know that I I just wouldn't want.

Gwen

Do you think it's possible that you would change your mind some time?

Maybe. But if I really was with someone for a long, long time.

Gwen

Have you ever talked about it with your parents or your friends? What did they say?

Well, some of my friends are like me too. But my parents are just like, ‘well, yeah, if that's what you want’. They're not mad or anything.

Gwen

There are people in China, especially in big cities, they tend not to have any kids or they don't have plans to have kids and some of them are just like you that they don't really like to get married in the future and there are more and more nowadays.

So yeah, it's quite common now it’s becoming common. People do have different thinkings.

It's interesting that that is happening kind of like all over the world too.

Gwen

Do you know anyone in your life around you that they are doing what you plan to do now?

Yeah, one of my sisters feels like that too. One of my friends, maybe he would get married but I know he doesn't want kids.

I always have this kind of opinion that if a kid is from a not really happy family, for example, their parents got divorced, well, this person is quite likely to not get married because he would be so disappointed with marriage or anything. But a person like you from a happy family...

A lot of people tell me that because I totally agree. I think it does sound really weird, why would I ever not want to be married? But I don't know. I guess, it’s just a part of my personality.

Gwen

When would you tell your date that you have this kind of a plan?

It just depends kind of normally somehow. Maybe I’ve just gotten kind of lucky somehow, it always kind of works its way in the conversation naturally. So I’ve never had to really think about planning when to say it. It just happened like maybe someone would bring up kids, so I’ve never had to plan when to say it.

Gwen

You must have already had some boyfriends, huh? So what do they all say about this?

None of them had a problem with it besides the one guy that broke up with me last night. All okay with it.
