华春莹点赞的化橘红，为什么要敲一敲？

今年的全国两会，意外出现了一个地方风物“名场面”。

3月7日下午，外交部副部长华春莹在广东代表团代表小组会议现场听会间隙，将两颗化橘红放在手里敲了敲，饶有兴致地闻起来。

Huajuhong

, a humble citrus peel from Guangdong province, stole the show at this year's China's two sessions when Vice-Foreign Minister Hua Chunying fell in love with it.

华春莹说：“我要特别感谢这个化橘红，我刚才一口气连续吃了两颗，的的确确是我迄今为止吃过的润喉方面我觉得最舒服、最好的。”

"I just ate two huajuhong throat lozenges in a row. This is honestly the best I've ever had in terms of soothing the throat," Hua said.

这一幕被敏锐的媒体捕捉到，“华春莹一口气吃了两颗化橘红”在各大平台刷屏，冲上热搜第二。

粤西山区的化橘红，一夜之间进入大众视野。

什么是化橘红？

实际上，华春莹吃的是化橘红深加工制品，化橘红润喉糖。

化橘红是很难直接食用的。

简单地说，化橘红是一种橘皮，和它名声在外的兄弟新会陈皮一样。但长在粤西大山里的化橘红要苦得多。

化州柚

化橘红的原料是化州柚，一种和地理高度挂钩的物产。化州的土壤中富含礞石，使化州柚具有化痰止咳的功效，属于老天爷赏饭，别的地方种不出来。

is citrus peel, but only Huazhou, Guangdong, grows the real thing, as the soil there is very different.

After blanching, peeling, shaping, and drying, we transform the inedible pomelo into

huajuhong

, used in tea, medicine, or food.

化橘红有两种形态：

一种是华春莹手中的球形，称为化橘红胎，是化州柚的幼果干燥而成，表面有绒毛。

优质的化橘红表面布满点状油室，含有丰富的精油，通过敲击，油室破裂，精油释出，就能闻到一股化橘红特有的奶呼呼的清香。

When tapping two dried fruits, the essential oils are released, producing a very unique scent.

这种幼果形态的化橘红也可以被压成圆柱体，然后切成片，就形成了我们常在药店看到的鹿茸一样的化橘红的样子。

这种形态最常见，方便取用量，除了果皮，还带有少量果肉，香气更浓郁，适合泡茶、煮水。

化橘红胎切片过程

另一种形态是成熟果皮制成的化橘红片。先用沸水烫或高温烘干至质地变软，再用刀切成7瓣或5瓣，切去内肉，烘干。

其中以七爪取材为最优，称为七爪红。五爪、三爪其次。

别看这果实小小一颗，它却是让很多化州人换楼房、买别墅，带动当地致富的关键物产。

向华春莹推荐化橘红的全国人大代表廖志略说，今年的“两会时刻”让他感到，化橘红正在从粤西偏远的山区走向世界，当地35万化橘红从业者的努力得到了肯定。

而这也正是这位年轻的代表为推广当地物产而奔走的初心。

The “minister moment” is a proud one for locals, as the fruit literally helps hundreds of thousands of people in Huazhou, a relatively remote area in South China, improve their livelihoods.

And that’s exactly the reason this brilliant young man made every effort to make it popular.

Because for them, it’s more than just a fruit.
