China's top health official has called for greater public awareness of weight management, a topic that quickly trended online with the phrase "the government is calling on you to lose weight".
去年的健康体重管理行动,得到全社会共同参与。雷海潮介绍,据统计,5500多家二、三级医院设立健康体重管理门诊,提供专业指导支持。很多城市扩建了健康步道,一些食堂也就食物热量进行标识。
Speaking at a news conference during the fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress on Saturday, Lei Haichao, head of the National Health Commission, said last year's healthy weight management initiative had seen broad participation, with more than 5,500 secondary and tertiary hospitals opening specialized clinics. Many cities have expanded public walking trails, and some cafeterias now label the calorie content of food.
雷海潮特别提及:“有些宾馆和酒店给大家配置了体重秤,为出差旅行人员能够动态监控好自己的体重提供了一个良好的条件。我们引导几大旅游平台,对增加了体重秤配置的宾馆房间进行了标注,便于大家在出行的时候选择。”
Lei added that some hotels overseen by culture and tourism authorities have begun placing scales in guest rooms so travelers can monitor their weight. Major online travel platforms are also encouraged to mark such rooms to help users choose them when booking.
据中国青年报报道,雷海潮说完后,文化和旅游部部长孙业礼点头微笑,也引来台下记者一片会心笑声。
“我也注意到,现在大家对于健康体重管理需求层次更高,不是去年摸一摸自己腰围的问题,而是要动态监控自己体重指数的变化。”雷海潮说,“很多人知道了成人体重指数建议控制在19至24之间,老年人控制在27以内;成年男性腰围一般控制在90厘米以内,女性一般控制在85厘米以内,对体脂率的正常范围有了认识。处于生长期的儿童青少年也更加健康。”
Demand for healthy weight management has also become more sophisticated, he said. The recommended BMI range for younger adults is 19 to 24, while older adults are advised to keep it below 27. Adult men are generally advised to keep waistlines under 90 centimeters and women under 85 centimeters.
