1月18日上午，八宝山殡仪馆东礼堂举行聂卫平九段遗体送别仪式。这位“棋圣”曾在中日围棋擂台赛力挽狂澜，是中国围棋标志性人物。
韩国名手曹薰铉也来到现场，他表示：“突然听到他去世，作为四五十年的朋友很悲伤，很遗憾。天妒英才，天空应该也很悲伤。”他还表示：“本来还想和他下更久的棋，希望未来在天堂再和他对弈。”
