据科普中国报道，《美国医学会杂志·肿瘤学》上的一项里程碑研究指出，在已患癌症的人群中，约有超过 1/8 的人，其癌症是由可遗传的基因突变直接驱动的。这里的遗传并非是直接遗传癌症，而是遗传了癌症易感性。目前医学上研究较为明确的几种，具有较强遗传倾向的癌症包括：结直肠癌、胃癌、卵巢癌、乳腺癌。
