爱尔兰总理马丁于1月4日至8日对中国进行了正式访问。此访是爱尔兰总理时隔14年再次访华，马丁也是新年伊始首位访华的欧洲国家领导人。
1月6日，在接受总台《高端访谈》专访时，马丁表示，“我们一贯支持一个中国政策，也将继续保持这一立场。我们自始至终明确坚持一个中国政策，这一立场未来也将继续。”
