当地时间1月2日，也门南方过渡委员会发言人称，该委员会已做好准备，将对也门政府发动的军事行动予以严厉回击。
当天早些时候，也门哈德拉毛省省长萨利姆·汉巴希宣布，也门政府对哈德拉毛地区的南方过渡委员会发起军事行动。也门政府消息人士说，有关军事行动已经开始。
