据台湾中时新闻网等台媒报道，台北车站12月19日傍晚5点30分左右发生攻击事件，一名头戴“专业级防毒面具”的歹徒发动“烟雾弹”“汽油弹”及利刃的连环恐怖袭击，造成一名男子受伤。事故发生约20分钟后，北捷中山站又传出随机砍人事件，一名男子持长刀随机攻击四五名路人，并且丢掷烟雾弹、闯入诚品南西店。
