The men's 50m breaststroke final at China's National Games on Thursday took an unexpected turn when Olympic gold medalist Qin Haiyang was disqualified for a false start. His Shanghai teammate Zheng Yinghao claimed the gold medal with a time of 26.97 seconds.

Following the race, Qin reflected on the incident, stating that under normal circumstances, he would have had no trouble winning the event. However, a minor mishap during his dive affected his performance.
"I was focusing on my rhythm and technique in the water but failed to bring my hands together properly during the dive. I just froze for a moment," Qin explained. "At that point, I thought a disqualification was possible. Still, I didn't dwell on it and tried to readjust."

Despite the setback, Qin expressed that the result would not impact his mindset going forward. "I've won many titles before. There's nothing I can't accept," he said.

When asked by reporters whether he still considers himself in his prime, Qin responded confidently:
"Absolutely, I'm still in my prime. But I think what I feel now is a sense of relaxation. Perhaps after going through various challenges, I've learned to focus more on enjoying the present moment. I'm enjoying the process and my own journey."
