10月17日，英国央行首席经济学家休·皮尔（Huw Pill）表示，在通胀顽固风险加剧之际，政策制定者在降低借贷成本方面应采取更审慎的态度。皮尔称，如果经济走势符合英国央行的预测，他预计未来一年将进一步降息。但他警告称，鉴于通胀回落进程缓慢，不应过快降息。
