本文设定取材于1986年10月14日老山前线的一场分外激烈的968高地和694高地拔点清除作战，由兰州军区139师416团“特攻五连”为主导，代号为“兰剑B”的行动 。
此前我军多个部队曾尝试进攻该高地，但因地形限制和敌军防御体系复杂未能成功。
