这首歌是保罗·麦卡特尼为约翰·列侬的儿子朱利安(Julian)创作的。当时列侬和妻子辛西娅的婚姻破裂，保罗想写首歌安慰年幼的朱利安。原歌名是《Hey Jules》，后来保罗觉得“Jude”更好听、更上口，就改成了现在的名字。朱利安直到很多年后才知道这首歌是写给他的。
