由于iPhone Air机身过薄无法容纳实体SIM卡槽，该机型将仅支持eSIM卡，而这一特殊设计使得其在国内未能与今年的另外三款iPhone同步发售。
9月12日，苹果官网将 iPhone Air 的发售状态改为“发售信息后续更新”，并用红字提示“所有机型在获得批准后发售”。
科技行业媒体APPSO向苹果确认了这一推迟，苹果发布声明称：“我们迫不及待希望用户能够体验 iPhone Air。我们正与监管机构紧密合作，力争尽快在中国推出。”
