8月28日，外交部发言人郭嘉昆主持例行记者会。有记者就美国新任驻港总领事提问。
郭嘉昆表示，我们希望美国新任驻港总领事恪守有关国际公约，恪守不干涉内政原则，尊重中国主权和特区法制，为促进美国同香港特区交流合作和中美关系健康发展发挥积极作用。
