当地时间8月24日，一位美国国防官员称，截至当日晚间，在华盛顿特区执行任务的国民警卫队已进行武装。据悉，这将适用于目前在华盛顿特区执行任务的来自华盛顿特区和其他州的2200多名国民警卫队士兵。
国防部长已指示华盛顿特区联合特遣部队的服役人员携带其指定的服役武器。士兵将能够携带其服役武器，其中可能包括M-17手枪或M-4步枪。（总台记者 张颖哲）
