英国环境局8月12日发布新闻公报说，“国家干旱小组”已将英格兰当前的缺水情况定义为“国家重大事件”。
公报说，英格兰5个地区正式陷入干旱，另有6个地区在经历了自1976年来最干旱的上半年后，持续处于干燥天气中。与6月相比，英格兰许多河流流量和水库水位在7月持续下降。上周，英格兰的水库水位下降了2%，目前平均蓄水量为67.7%，而往年8月第一周平均值为80.5%。（新华社）
